FAMILY NIGHT IN SILKS!

Carroll suggested that we set up a family night in the silks. I was sneaky and set it up without telling the kids (I did end up telling Brandon.) Brandon had already done the silks and was really excited about taking the whole family. We loaded up in workout clothes and drove to Carroll's studio. Faith guessed where we were going, but not what we were doing.

Once inside, they were all so pumped about it! Faith even said that this crossed something off of her bucket list. I love those! They are so much fun! We did lots of moves as well as talked. The whole family loved it! Thank you Carroll for the suggestion! Love you and your talent!

Here are a couple of pictures that I managed to take while doing silks too!

This is Brandon's favorite! So much fun to just relax in these!

Kate wanted to talk the whole time and tell us all about it! Once we learn a flip to get into the silks, she kept hopping out so that she could do it again. It was so cute!

Showing what she thought about this family activity

He is having so much fun! He wanted to do his thing instead of listening to instructions! So Dawson!!!

Just like Dad, he loved this position!

The ninja! Performed by Kate

The ninja! Performed by Faith

Ending our night sharing love! The two kiddlets sharing a silk and really loving it!

LONG WEEKEND MEANS FUN

School is underway and fall is already in the air. The kids were excited to already have a long weekend, and I think that Brandon and I were equally as happy. We got a lot of cleaning done (necessary to keep up on any weekend) and then finished our Harry Potter marathon (and I finished Kate's stocking!!!) We've been watching series of movies as a family and I think that the kids, especially Dawson are loving it. He likes to remind us about family fun night (our tradition of watching movies together on Friday or Saturday night).

After completely the series (it was so good) and having the sister missionaries over for dinner, we had a great family home evening by Brandon. We went through our 72 hour kits to see what was missing and what we need to add as well as rotating the food. It was fun to have all of the kids sort through and see what they have.

As we were gathering up the food, Dawson broke out in "Da Moose, Da Moose" song with Echo's toy. It's such a catching song that  once one of us sings it, we are singing it for hours. So I got this picture and even Echo decided that she needed to be in it. Love these kiddos!!!

FHE - SO WORTH IT

Tonight our family home evening was based on a talk that I heard from one of the Bishop's during ward conferences. (I was lucky enough to even get a copy of it!)

We started with the scripture in D&C 18:10. "Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God." We discussed how the world and God see things differently and worth is not based on social classes or fame and fortune. We are all important to our Heavenly Father.

Then we started opening presents.

Our Heavenly Father considers us SO WORTH IT that He has given us our free agency.

Our Heavenly Father considers us SO WORTH IT that He blesses us with a living prophet.

Our Heavenly Father considers us SO WORTH IT that He has blessed us with the opportunity to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

Our Heavenly Father considers us SO WORTH IT, He has given each of us the opportunity to receive a Patriarchal Blessing.

Our Heavenly Father considers us SO WORTH IT, He commands His shepherd to leave the ninety and nine to go in search of the wandering or lost one.

Our Heavenly Father considers us SO WORTH IT, He has blessed us with temples. When we are prepared, the opportunity to go to His House and make sacred covenants with Him.

Our Heavenly Father considers us SO WORTH IT that He has given us families to help us learn the gospel and bear each other's burdens.

Our Heavenly Father considers us SO WORTH IT, he has given us His only begotten son to atone for our sins and to make it possible to repent and to return to live in His presence.

Then I shared part of Janice Kapp Perry's song "I am of Infinite Worth."
"All I need to remember if ever I wonder if I am of worth,
remember my Savior; what he did for me when he walked among men on this earth.
Pain and unspeakable sorrow he bore for my sins there, in Gethsemane,
then he gave up his life as he hung on the cross and he did it all for me!

Yes, I am of worth, of infinite worth, my Savior, Redeemer loves me.
Yes, I am of worth, of infinite worth, I'll be all he wants me to be."

The family home evening went great! I had quotes and thoughts and we discussed each present as we went. It's definitely worth wrapping a few items that you have around to have a meaningful family home evening. I hope that they remember it!!!

THE LITTLE RED HEN

Faith did our family home evening lesson last night on working together as a family to have a clean house. She did a wonderful job and shared the story of the little red hen. It is important that we work together and then we can all enjoy a nice clean house.

Doctrine and Covenants 42:42 "Thou shalt not be idle; for he that is idle shall not eat the bread nor wear the garments of the laborer."

Enjoy the story!

There was once a little red hen who found some wheat seed. She went to her friends and asked, "Who will help me plant this wheat?"

"Not I," said the rat.

"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the dog.
"Not I," said the pig.

"Then I will plant the wheat myself," said the little red hen. And she did.

The wheat was soon ripe and ready to cut. The little red hen went to her friends and asked, "Who will help me cut this wheat?"

"Not I," said the rat.
"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the dog.
"Not I," said the pig.

"Then I will cut the wheat myself," said the little red hen. And she did.

The wheat was cut and ready to be taken to the miller to be ground. The little red hen went to her friends and asked, "Who will help me carry this wheat to the miller?"

"Not I," said the rat.
"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the dog.
"Not I," said the pig.

"Then I will take the wheat to the miller myself," said the little red hen. And she did.

The wheat was ground and ready to bake into bread. The little red hen went to her friends and asked, "Who will help me bake some bread?"

"Not I," said the rat.
"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the dog.
"Not I," said the pig.

"Then I will bake the bread myself," said the little red hen. And she did.

The bread was baked and ready to eat. The little red hen went to her friends and asked, "Who will help me eat this bread?"

"I will," said the rat.
"I will," said the cat.
"I will," said the dog.
"I will," said the pig.

"No you will not! I will eat the bread myself," said the little red hen. And she did.
